Computer In Teaching And Learning

 Computer In Teaching And Learning

Assalammualaikum?
First of all I would like to introduce myself. I am Dayangku Siti Nur Amalina Binti Pengiran Haji Mahmud.  An undergraduate student taking Bachelor of Education with Honours (Special Education). Study at The National University Of Malaysia, 2011/2012 intake.
Computer in Education is one of the compulsory subjects in the faculty of education for those who are taking teachers as their future profession.  The class was commenced on Thursday, 22nd September 2011. It was held in the computer laboratory number 3 at the Faculty of Education.

First and foremost, the Course Coordinator for this course is Dr.Siti Fatimah Binti Mohd Yassin.  She’s also the lecturer for group S1K3. She gave the course outline briefing and introduced the “Undergraduate Course Proforma” to the whole group.
Upon finishing the briefing, she told us to do some tasks. At first, when I read through the tasks given, it looked easy and as simple as 1-2-3. Let me share to you what we were asked to do:
1.       Register official email : a) Create official google account

                     b) Create official yahoo! Account

** Each accounts, must put our signature: Full name, program and Institution

***Send ethical email to the course coordinator.
P/S: This task looks simple right?? But actually it is NOT! The course coordinator checked our email, name and punctuations error. Guess what?? I have to redo this 3 times. The third time I did then it was correct. I typed my name wrongly. I should have typed capital letters at every initials of my name.
2.       Register official Facebook account :

a) using google or yahoo email account.
b) add classmates, course lecturer and course coordinator.
c) introduce yourself in ethics.

P/S: Honestly, I am actually refused to have a facebook for the time being. The reason is I want to focus on my study and I am a facebook-addict if I have one. I can be on facebook like every time I’m free and can sit in front of the laptop for hours and keep updating and commenting everyone who’s online. So to prevent that, I deleted my previous facebook for good. However, now, by hook or by crook I have to have facebook as it is compulsory and it is for learning how to communicate in ethics as a teacher-to-be. If you want to know, I have a problem in signing up this social network. I thought it was easy as I signed up for a new account as before. Yet, I was FALSE! The new facebook needs verification code to verify the new account. I seriously got problem on this. I didn’t receive any code through my phone. When I kept on entering my phone numbers, it said that “you are requesting too many codes in a short period of time. Please try again later.” At this stage, I was vitally giving up already. I didn’t know what to do. Till, I asked my uncle, friends and our coordinator to help me on this.  I didn’t sleep well that night. I kept on thinking and trying how to solve this problem. Until, I read one of the doa named “doa tawakkal” to find a solution for it. Then I did the assignment slowly and patiently. And guess what? I DID IT!! I MANAGED TO SIGN IN MY FACEBOOK! Alhamdulillah. I felt so grateful with Allah’s help.
3.       Asked to: a) Join a yahoo-grou
   b) Create yahoogroups for webportfolio (learning portfolio) – invite course lecturer and course co-ordinator
   c) Create facebook group – invite classmate, course lecturer and course co-ordinator.
P/S: This part Alhamdulillah, I managed to do it easily.
4.       Blog Registration – Create official blog
P/S: The signing up for blog was very easy. I did it in just a short period of time.  However, problem arose. I’ve never been blogging before and I didn’t know how to make my blog looking good, smart and simple. Again one more time, my friend helped and taught me how to edit and design my blog page. So, Alhamdulillah, I am now having a blog and still learning how to make good posts and designs in my blog.
Focus. Don’t give up too easily, the more mistakes we did, the more knowledge we gain....And at the same time we learn how to be patience. Bear in mind that we’ll be a teacher one day and PATIENCE is one of the characteristics that we must have.
It is not hard to learn more.  What is hard is to unlearn when you discover yourself wrong.  ~Martin H. Fischer
